چکیده
Gastrodia pubilabiata is a nonphotosynthetic and mycoheterotrophic orchid belonging to subfamily Epidendroideae. Compared other typical angiosperm species, the plastome of G. dramatically reduced in size only 30,698 base pairs (bp). This reduction has led loss most photosynthesis-related genes some housekeeping plastome, which now contains 19 protein coding genes, three tRNAs, rRNAs. In contrast, species 79 30 four study decoded entire mitogenome pubilabiata, consisted 44 contigs with total length 867,349 bp. Its contained 38 nine The gene content similar plant mitogenomes even though twice as large ones. To determine possible transfer events between individual BLASTN searches were conducted, using all available sequences flowering sequences. Plastid rRNA fragments found at high frequency mitogenome. Seven plastid (ndhC, ndhJ, ndhK, psaA, psbF, rpoB, rps4) also identified pubilabiata. Phylogenetic trees these seven suggested that horizontal (HGT) from occurred before losses photosynthesis related leading lineage phylogeny orchid, it was estimated HGT might have approximately million years ago.

Independent degradation in genes of the plastid ndh gene family in species of the orchid genus Cymbidium (Orchidaceae; Epidendroideae)
In this paper, we compare ndh genes in the plastid genome of many Cymbidium species and three closely related taxa in Orchidaceae looking for evidence of ndh gene degradation. Among the 11 ndh genes, there were frequently large deletions in directly repeated or AT-rich regions. Variation in these degraded ndh genes occurs between individual plants, apparently at population levels in these Cymbi...
متن کاملGastrodia kachinensis (Orchidaceae), a new species from Myanmar
Gastrodia kachinensis, a new species of Orchidaceae, is described and illustrated from Putao, Kachin State, Myanmar. It is morphologically similar to G. gracilis, presumably its nearest relative, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by having perianth tube with punctate outer surface, verrucose outer surface of sepal lobe, orbicular petals, ovate-elliptic lip with truncate apex and a...
متن کاملDescribing ancient horizontal gene transfers at the nucleotide and gene levels by comparative pathogenicity island genometrics
MOTIVATION Lateral gene transfer is a major mechanism contributing to bacterial genome dynamics and pathovar emergence via pathogenicity island (PAI) spreading. However, since few of these genomic exchanges are experimentally reproducible, it is difficult to establish evolutionary scenarios for the successive PAI transmissions between bacterial genera. Methods initially developed at the gene an...
متن کاملHorizontal gene transfers as metagenomic gene duplications.
While it is well accepted that horizontal gene transfer plays an important role in the evolution and the diversification of prokaryotic genomes, many questions remain open regarding its functional mechanisms of action and its interplay with the extant genome. This study addresses the relationship between proteome innovation by horizontal gene transfer and genome content in Proteobacteria. We ch...
متن کاملDetection of Horizontal Gene Transfers from Phylogenetic Comparisons
Bacterial phylogenies have become one of the most important challenges for microbial ecology. This field started in the mid-1970s with the aim of using the sequence of the small subunit ribosomal RNA (16S) tool to infer bacterial phylogenies. Phylogenetic hypotheses based on other sequences usually give conflicting topologies that reveal different evolutionary histories, which in some cases may...
